The U.S. Senate voted Thursday (6/5) to include an ethanol requirement, a ban of the gasoline additive MTBE and a repeal of the oxygen-content requirement of the Clean Air Act in a nationwide energy bill. Also, the amendment calls for mandate for the use of 5 billion gallons of renewable fuels, mostly ethanol, to be blended into gasoline by 2012 and each year thereafter.
