Regular gasoline prices for the week ended June 9 rose 1.7 cents to $1.490 per gallon, ending weeks of sliding retail prices following spiking prices in March. Average retail prices were 11.5 cents higher than the comparable week in 2002. U.S. diesel prices dipped 0.01 cent to $1.422 per gallon for the week yet gained 13.6 cents from the corresponding week in 2002.
Regular gasoline prices in the Midwest moved up 5.7 cents to $1.506 per gallon for the week ended June 9, while increasing 15.1 cents from the same week a year ago.
West Coast regular gasoline prices declined 2.0 cents to $1.657 per gallon but gained 14.5 cents from the year earlier period, while California regular gasoline prices moved down 3.6 cents to $1.696 per gallon for the week yet rose 13.3 cents from the same week in 2002.
