Regular gasoline prices for the week ended June 16 rose 2.8 cents to $1.518 per gallon, which are 14.0 cents higher than prices at this time last year, said the Energy Information Administration. The federal agency also reported a 1.0-cent increase to $1.432 per gallon in U.S. diesel prices for the same weekly period, which are 15.7 cents higher than the corresponding week in 2002.
Regular gasoline prices in the Midwest rose 1.2 cents to $1.518 per gallon for the week ended June 16, while also increasing 15.5 cents from the same week a year ago.
West Coast regular gasoline prices jumped 8.2 cents to $1.739 per gallon and rose 19.5 cents from the year earlier period, while California regular gasoline prices shot up 9.1 cents to $1.787 per gallon for the week and increased 18.6 cents from the same week in 2002.
