Senate Delays Debate on Energy Bill until End of July

According to reports the United States Senate has delayed their resumption of a debate on the comprehensive energy bill currently before them until the end of July. Debate had been postponed originally until the week of July 7 following the return of lawmakers from the July 4 Independence holiday.

The energy bill was delayed from the floor to consider Medicare legislation.

When senators re-engage in debate, they will have before them 394 amendments to the energy bill, with the list including 299 Democratic and 95 Republican offered amendments. The list reportedly contains the name of the member offering the amendment and a topical reference.
