The national average for on-highway diesel fuel decreased 1.1cts to $2.790 gal for the week-ended Nov. 16, the Energy Information Administration reported.
The weekly average is 1.9cts below the comparable year-ago period.
Retail diesel prices extended lower in all regions of the country except for a price increase in the New England region.
Consumers in the Central Atlantic region paid the highest rate for on-highway diesel fuel at $2.912, which is 16cts less than the comparable year-ago period. The price decreased 1.4cts.
Consumers paid the second-highest price for on-highway diesel fuel in the West Coast region, where prices dropped 1cts to $2.199 gal, which is 13.1cts more than the comparable year-ago period.
In California, on-highway retail diesel fuel shed 0.8cts at $2.964 gal, a 21cts gain versus the retail value a year ago.
The next highest price average was in the New England region at $2.868, which is 28cts less than the comparable year-ago period. The price increased 0.2cts.
In the Midwest region, prices decreased 1cts to $2.769 gal, which is 0.5cts more than last year.
On-highway diesel prices decreased 1.3cts in the East Coast region at $2.808 gal, which is 11.6cts less than last year.
Prices shed 1.3cts in the Lower Atlantic region at $2.759 gal, which is 8.1cts less than the comparable year ago period.
Consumers in the Gulf Coast region paid an average of $2.733 gal, down 1.3cts from the prior week, and down 1.2cts from a year ago.
Rocky Mountain diesel fuel prices decreased 0.3cts to $2.820 gal, which is 0.2cts less than the comparable year-ago period.
