The national average for on-highway diesel fuel decreased 0.3cts to $2.787 gal for the week-ended Nov. 23, the Energy Information Administration reported.
The weekly average is 12.3cts above the comparable year-ago period.
Retail diesel prices extended lower in all regions of the country except for a price increase in the Gulf Coast and Rocky Mountain regions and no change on the week for the New England region.
Consumers in the Central Atlantic region paid the highest rate for on-highway diesel fuel at $2.907, which is 1.8cts less than the comparable year-ago period. The price decreased 0.5cts.
Consumers paid the second-highest price for on-highway diesel fuel in the West Coast region, where prices dipped 0.3cts to $2.896 gal, which is 28.8cts more than the comparable year-ago period.
In California, on-highway retail diesel fuel shed 1cts at $2.954 gal, a 34.9cts gain versus the retail value a year ago.
The next highest price average was in the New England region at $2.868, which is 12.9cts less than the comparable year-ago period. The price remained flat on the week.
In the Midwest region, prices decreased 0.7cts to $2.762 gal, which is 13.8cts more than last year.
On-highway diesel prices decreased 0.5cts in the East Coast region at $2.803 gal, which is 1.5cts more than last year.
Prices shed 0.6cts in the Lower Atlantic region at $2.753 gal, which is 4.3cts more than the comparable year-ago period.
Consumers in the Gulf Coast region paid an average of $2.738 gal, up 0.5cts from the prior week, and up 14cts from a year ago.
Rocky Mountain diesel fuel prices increased 0.5cts to $2.820 gal, which is 18.1cts more than the comparable year-ago period.
