The average price for all formulations of regular grade gasoline dropped 3.5cts to $2.599 gal for the week-ended Dec. 14, according to the Energy Information Administration.

The average price is up 94cts gal compared with the same week in 2008.

Gasoline is averaging the least in the Gulf Coast region and the most along the West Coast.

In the West Coast region, prices are 1.3cts lower on the week at $2.848 gal. The Pacific Northwest average is down 2cts at $2.752 gal for the week. City-wide, the Los Angeles average decreased 1.7cts to $2.949 gal while in Seattle, Washington, gasoline averages dropped 1.9cts at $2.792 gal.

The Rocky Mountain average is down 1.9cts at $2.538 gal. Colorado averaged $2.484 gal, down 2cts on the week.

In the Gulf Coast the average was down 4.4cts at $2.474, and the retail pump price in Houston sank 7cts to $2.38 gal.

In the Midwest, prices lost 4.9cts at $2.516, 87.2cts more than the comparable year-ago period.

In Minnesota, gasoline dropped 3.2cts to $2.485 gal. In Ohio, the gasoline average shed 7.8cts to $2.479 gal.

Retail gasoline averaged $2.625 in Florida, down 4.7cts from the previous week. Central Atlantic states posted a 2.7cts decline in their average to $2.654 gal, with the New England region down 2.6cts at $2.648 gal. Overall, gasoline along the East Coast averaged $2.615 gal, down 2.9cts from the prior week.
