US Retail Gasoline Slides 3.4cts, 86.7cts above Year Ago


The average price for all formulations of regular grade gasoline decreased 3.4cts to $2.705 gal for the week-ended Jan. 25, according to the Energy Information Administration.

 

The average price is up 86.7cts gal compared with the same week in 2009.

 

Gasoline is averaging the least in the Gulf Coast and the most along the West Coast.

 

In the West Coast region, prices are 1.3cts lower on the week at $2.940 gal. The Pacific Northwest average is down 0.4cts at $2.824 gal for the week. City-wide, the Los Angeles average decreased 2.2cts to $3.046 gal while in Seattle, Washington, gasoline averages shed 2.5cts at $2.851 gal.

 

In the Gulf Coast the average was down 3cts at $2.587, and Houston decreased 2.8cts to $2.532 gal.

 

The Rocky Mountain average is up 0.5cts at $2.622 gal. Colorado averaged $2.561 gal, down 1.5cts on the week.

 

In the Midwest, prices dropped 5.7cts at $2.624, 80.4cts more than the comparable year-ago period.

 

In Minnesota, gasoline declined 4.6cts to $2.669 gal. In Ohio, the gasoline average lost 9.6cts at $2.546 gal.

 

Retail gasoline averaged $2.746 in Florida, down 4cts from the previous week. Central Atlantic states posted a 2.5cts decline in their average to $2.749 gal, with the New England region down 2.3cts at $2.752 gal. Overall, gasoline along the East Coast averaged $2.723 gal, down 2.8cts from the prior week.
