The national average for on-highway diesel fuel decreased 3.7cts to $2.833 gal for the week-ended Jan. 25, the Energy Information Administration reported.

The weekly average is 56.5cts above the comparable year-ago period.

Consumers in the New England region paid the highest rate for on-highway diesel fuel at $3.055, which is 46cts more than the comparable year-ago period. The price decreased 1cts.

Consumers paid the second-highest price for on-highway diesel fuel in the Central Atlantic region, where prices dropped 3.7cts to $2.986 gal, which is 49.6cts more than the comparable year-ago period.

In the West Coast region, diesel prices declined 3.2cts to $2.915 gal, which is 59.6cts above the year-ago price point.

In California, on-highway retail diesel fuel dropped 2.1cts at $2.987 gal, a 69.1cts gain versus the retail value a year ago.

In the Midwest region, prices decreased 4.4cts to $2.823 gal which is 55.8cts more than last year.

On-highway diesel prices dropped 4cts in the East Coast region at $2.883 gal, which is 53.9cts more than last year.

Prices dropped 4.4cts in the Lower Atlantic region at $2.823 gal, which is 56.5cts more than the comparable year ago period.

Consumers in the Gulf Coast region paid an average of $2.80 gal, down 3.1cts from the prior week, and up 59.8cts from a year ago.

Rocky Mountain diesel fuel prices decreased 1cts to $2.817 gal, which is 57.4cts more than the comparable year-ago period.
