The national average for on-highway diesel fuel decreased 5.2cts to $2.781 gal for the week-ended Feb. 1, the Energy Information Administration reported.
The weekly average is 53.5cts above the comparable year-ago period.
Consumers in the New England region paid the highest rate for on-highway diesel fuel at $3.017, which is 43.4cts more than the comparable year-ago period. The price decreased 1cts.
Consumers paid the second-highest price for on-highway diesel fuel in the Central Atlantic region, where prices dropped 6cts to $2.926 gal, which is 44.2cts more than the comparable year-ago period.
In the West Coast region, diesel prices declined 3.9cts to $2.876 gal, which is 57.3cts above the year-ago price point.
In California, on-highway retail diesel fuel dropped 3.7cts at $2.950 gal, a 66.2cts gain versus the retail value a year ago.
In the Midwest region, prices decreased 5.9cts to $2.731 gal, which is 53cts more than last year.
On-highway diesel prices dropped 5.1cts in the East Coast region at $2.832 gal, which is 50.7cts more than last year.
Prices dropped 4.8cts in the Lower Atlantic region at $2.775 gal, which is 54.2cts more than the comparable year-ago period.
Consumers in the Gulf Coast region paid an average of $2.744 gal, down 5.6cts from the prior week, and up 55.5cts from a year ago.
Rocky Mountain diesel fuel prices decreased 2cts to $2.797 gal, which is 56.8cts more than the comparable year-ago period.
