Valero Renewable Fuels Company, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Valero Energy Corp., said Feb. 4 that it closed on the $72 million ethanol plant from Renew Energy that it acquired through an auction process.
Renew Energy filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The facility, which has an annual production capacity of 110 million gallons, is located near Jefferson, Wisconsin.
The purchase gives Valero Renewables a total of 10 ethanol plants with a combined production capacity of 1.1 billion gallons per year, making it one of the nation’s largest ethanol producers.
