Sunoco to Eliminate 86 Octane Grade in Midwest
New Gasoline Slate to Affect Nearly 1,100 Outlets
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Sunoco, Inc. said last week that it will change the octane grades it makes available at its retail branded outlets in the Midwest. The company also announced its intentions to sell direct-supplied locations in Michigan and Southern Ohio.
On the product side, Sunoco will eliminate its 86 octane offering in the Midwest and move to a more competitive four-grade octane offering of 87-89-93 and Ultra 94. This change allows the company to offer customers the same product mix as competition in the lower grades, plus the choice at most locations of Ultra 94—the highest octane available. This four-grade product slate is also consistent with Sunoco's offering in its Northeast markets, said the company.
